A Humble Eulogy To My Favorite Car

You were 1999 Toyota Camry Solara, and I was just a 23-year-old boy. It was the love at first sight. For over five years you granted me shelter along the highway of my life. My favorite car. My ONLY car!

Car Maintnance

She almost died. If I waited a little longer she could have been dead right now.  Car maintenance is very important especially if you want your beloved car to live a long fulfilling life.

Spark plugs, plug wires, serpentine belt, all fluids, oil, clutch adjustment, engine timing – this is not even the full list of all the things that they had to do to my car.  And I’m ready to pay the money or even do it myself if necessary, but I guess I’ve just been too lazy to maintain my car properly.  I do believe I have a beautiful car. Its shape reflects the high speed and the TRD sticker confirms that is use to be a sports car, now retired. Despite all the discolorations, mileage and the age I believe I still love my Toyota and hope it will serve me another couple of years.

1999 Toyota Solara, V6 200 hp, TRD suspension, K&N air filter, 17″ Lexus wheels.

Wheel Studs

Today is the day. Today I’m going to replace my broken and stripped wheel studs. Vasko has kindly agreed to help and overall supervise the process.
Here’s an advise for you: if BigOTires doesn’t charge you for the work done (mounting, balancing etc.) – make sure that your car is still in one piece. I guess this could apply to any car shop, but when I didn’t get the bill from BigO I was happy at first and then I realized that there’s probably a reason behind it. And what do you know, the very next time I had to change my tires I found 2 broken wheel studs in addition to the other 2, that were broken long time ago.
Anyhow the spring is here and it is time to switch to the summer performance tires, which means that all the broken studs need to be replaced in order to fit my new Pirelli 235/45/17. Wish us luck.

UPDATE. So we disassembled the wheel hub and removed the broken studs just to find out that they do not sell these kind of extended studs at the local stores and I will have to order one on the Internet.
