I Hate Dentists

As much as I dislike doctors in general, there’s no other feeling like what I get at a dentist’s office. When I was a kid back home I managed to break my front teeth under certain suspicious circumstances. And as a good boy I was told to go see the doctor, who immediately tried fixing them with no anesthetic whatsoever. I’m not sure if he was out of the magic medicine that day or what the deal was, but one thing is for sure: he will never try doing it again. I’ve fixed my teeth since then and according to the most recent examination have nothing to worry about right now, but I will never regret engaging with that poor doctor in a close combat fight.

Polyphasic Sleep

Polyphasic sleep – also known as Uberman’s sleep Schedule, consists of six daily naps taken every four hours instead of one long sleep every night (monophasic sleep).

Now the schedule may vary, but the whole point is that getting several naps throughout the day is the same if not better than getting one 7-9 hours sleep. It is not impossible and if done correctly it will provide me with more time to study and spend time with my friends without feeling dizzy and fatigue.

Being constantly tired and sleepy might have something to do with me working with computers 40 hours a week. My eyes get exhausted, especially after wearing contacts for the entire day, I get a headache and I feel like I need to get some sleep. Right now it takes me at least 8 to 9 hours to fully recuperate every week night and I might sleep even longer on weekends. I know it’s way too long and might have something to do with my slow metabolism. I’m thinking I could slowly scale it down to 5-6 hours at night and maybe one or two naps during the day. Ideally this would give me at least a couple of extra hours to be active each day.  I’m not sure how it’s gonna work with my school and work schedule as well as plans to start working out, but it’s sure is something worth trying.

I’ll keep you posted.

No Pain – No Gain

It hurts really bad. Physically and morally. Lack of mussels and overall being out of shape is a pretty sorry condition – there’s no one to blame for this but myself.

We spent at least 4 hours loading and unloading stuff and furniture for Vasko’s new apartment. After not working out for over a year it turned out to be quite a challenge for me. Running up and down the stairs carrying heavy boxes is like doing cardio and lifting weights at the same time. The heart is pounding, forearms are about to let go – and yet I did get some kind of pleasure out of it. With my back hurting today, arms and knees killing me, I’m like a drug addict experiencing withdrawals after a big dose of adrenalin. I use to get it almost every day, exercising for just a couple of hours would give me the strength and satisfaction on several different levels.

I could find tons of reasons why I quit working out, but the truth is I’m lazy. I’ve got a free gym at work, I’ve got one at the clubhouse in our apartment complex and now I will have another one on SLCC campus. If I really wanted to I would’ve found time to go to gym every day. The problem is I don’t have the motivation. Now the reason why I’ve lost the motivation is a whole separate topic which I’m not going to get into right now.

The plan is to start working out my legs to recover them better from after the surgery, do more cardio to loose the extra 20lb I’ve gained and then slowly get back in shape hopefully by the end of the year.

I really want to fit into my old jeans again.
