Above & Beyond

At every party there are two kinds of people – those who want to go home and those who don’t. The trouble is, they are usually married to each other.

This time it was different. I actually managed to get fucked up on Percocet and almost fell asleep on the dance floor. The DJs were awesome. I haven’t had so much fun in a while. My wife said I was jumping and yelling like there’s no tomorrow, and so was everybody else.

Until certain age some males have a mental block in their heads preventing them from relaxing on the dance floor and just moving and having fun. Normally it sounds like “I don’t know how to dance” or “I’m not a big dancer”. Even in high school during teenage discotheques I would join all the other guys sitting along the walls, watching the girls dance. Back then I was extremely conscious and aware of my inability to dance and move smoothly. It all had changed once I  discovered the alcohol. At some point in the early 20s I was dragged onto the dance floor by one of my girlfriends and was able to overcome myself and spasmodically jerk in front of whole bunch of hispanics. From that point on I had no issues with having fun and partying.

DJ Tieso, Paul Oakenfold, ATB – that is not the full list of all the raves I’ve been to. Above & Beyond last weekend was awesome too. There was a good dozen of us – all Russian friends – at the night club. We had a blast. However it doesn’t look like I’m going to party again any time soon. I’m not sure if getting old, but it will probably take me at least a couple of weeks to fully recover and recuperate. That’s too bad. But I will definitely do this again.

You’re Only as Old as You Feel. Have fun!

Russian Easter

I might have forgotten what it is like to really party with great people. Well thanks to my wife and my friends here we all had a great time on Saturday celebrating Easter.

And even though it was a Catholic Easter we didn’t care and just had fun. Natasha was in charge of organizing everything and I have to admit she did a great job at inviting the right people and buying the alcohol in particular. There were 8 of us at the most, all russian-speaking. We had drinks at our place, Vasko made frozen pinocoladas and then went out to some ghetto night-club, where some perverted cowboys kept gazing at our women. And then there was the after-party. We stayed up till 4 AM dancing Руки Вверх and drinking. I passed out from happiness, not from alcohol!

We need to get together more often!
